The Anchoress
The Anchoress is a Welsh singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose career has skyrocketed in recent years. Born Catherine Anne Davies in Cardiff, Wales, she is known for her unique blend of indie rock and pop music mixed with chamber pop orchestration and poetic lyrics.
Davies began her musical career as a classical composer, earning a PhD in Medieval Studies and Music from the University of London. She went on to work with various artists, including Manic Street Preachers, Bernard Butler and Ed Harcourt, before finally releasing her debut album, "Confessions of a Romance Novelist", in 2016.
The album received critical acclaim and was nominated for the Welsh Music Prize.
