Shonen Knife
Shonen Knife is a critically acclaimed Japanese rock and pop band that has been active since 1981. Formed in Osaka, the band has achieved international recognition for their blend of punk and power pop, as well as their incredibly energetic live shows.
Shonen Knife consists of singer, songwriter, and guitarist Naoko Yamano, bassist Ritsuko Taneda, and drummer Atsuko Yamano. Naoko’s songwriting style is heavily influenced by her love of classic rock and pop music, and the band’s sound has been compared to that of the Ramones, The Beach Boys, and The B-52s.
Shonen Knife has released more than 20 albums over their long career, with their most recent being the 2020 release, Sweet Candy Power.
