Shakatak is an English band that has been producing jazz-funk and pop music since the early 1980s. The band was formed in 1980 by keyboardist Bill Sharpe, drummer Roger Odell and bassist George Anderson. They were later joined by vocalists Jill Saward and Jacqui Hicks.
The band has since released numerous albums and singles and have reached the top of the UK Singles Chart twice, once with ‘Night Birds’ in 1982 and again with ‘Down On The Street’ in 1984. They have also achieved success on the US Dance chart with ‘Easier Said Than Done’ and ‘Dark Is The Night’, both topping the chart in 1984.
