Roy G Hemmings brings serious soul credentials to the Boisdale stage. As the longest-serving former member of The Drifters, he spent over a decade fronting the vocal harmony legends across the globe, sharing bills with the likes of Earth, Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder and Roberta Flack. His show Dictionary of Soul is a rich, full-bodied celebration of classic Soul and Motown, delivered with effortless polish and deep musical instinct.

The setlist reads like a greatest hits of the genre, “Get Ready”, “Me & Mrs. Jones”, “My Girl”, “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay”, “Love Train”, “Under the Boardwalk”, performed with a band that knows how to keep things tight, groovy and deeply melodic. Expect nods to The Supremes, Otis Redding, The Temptations and James Brown, all tied together with Roy’s velvet vocal and signature finesse.

He’s performed at the Royal Variety Show and toured major UK theatres with the Hits of Motown series, earning a reputation as a refined showman with genuine roots in soul history. For lovers of sweet harmonies, horn riffs and feel-good nostalgia, this is a masterclass in how it’s done.
