Pulp is a British rock pop band that gained popularity in the 1990s. Formed in Sheffield in 1978, the band went through several lineup changes before settling into its most famous configuration: Jarvis Cocker (vocals, guitar, keyboard), Russell Senior (guitar, violin), Candida Doyle (keyboard), Steve Mackey (bass), Nick Banks (drums), and Mark Webber (guitar).

The band's sound is characterized by Cocker's distinctive vocals and sharp lyrics, which often satirize British society and culture. Pulp's music combines the energy and attitude of punk rock with the melodies and hooks of pop, creating a distinct and memorable sound that has influenced countless artists.

Pulp released their first album, It, in 1983, but it wasn't until the release of their breakthrough album, Different Class, in 1995 that they achieved widespread success.
