Odyssey carved out their own lane in late 70s New York, blending disco, soul and Caribbean grooves into a sound that felt effortless but hit hard. Their breakout hit “Native New Yorker” landed in 1977 and caught fire on both sides of the Atlantic - a street-smart and strings-laced anthem.
By 1980, they were topping UK charts with “Use It Up and Wear It Out”, a record that nudged Queen off the number one spot and cemented Odyssey’s place in British dancefloor history. The following year, “Going Back to My Roots” offered something deeper: a track rooted in identity, rhythm and unity, produced with the polish of Motown legend Lamont Dozier.
With Steven Collazo, son of original lead singer Lillian López, now at the helm, the group continues to tour internationally, staying close to their musical DNA while keeping the sound sharp. The lineup may have evolved but the music still grooves with that same crisp percussion, rich vocals and sun-soaked swing.
At Boisdale, expect the hits delivered with style, musicianship and a knowing wink to the crowd.
