MONEY – A New Solo Show By Cranio

A vibrant and biting exploration of modern materialism.
MONEY – A New Solo Show By Cranio
7 August - 24 August 2025

This month, BSMT Gallery will welcome back Brazilian street artist Cranio whose signature blend of humour, colour and critique is as sharp as ever in his witty new solo exhibition entitled ‘MONEY’.

From gold chains and branded paraphernalia to surreal consumerist rituals, the works expose the cultural contradictions of modern capitalism. The show reads like a satire of spiritual erosion in the face of excess - rendered with Cranio’s usual visual punch and narrative wit.

“I created the blue Indian as a way to reflect on our contradictions,” says Cranio… “He loses touch with his values. He’s distracted, corrupted, and sometimes even ridiculous - but that’s exactly the point.”

The exhibition will feature a large body of new small-format, hand-painted works, alongside several large-scale statement pieces. At the centre of these works is Cranio’s unmistakable blue character- a symbol of Brazil’s Indigenous heritage and a mischievous observer of contemporary life.

In ‘MONEY’, these figures become distorted by greed, seduced by luxury, and trapped in absurd depictions of wealth.

About Cranio

Born Fabio de Oliveira Parnaiba in São Paulo, Cranio began painting in 1998, influenced by Hip Hop culture and Graffiti. His work blends social commentary with fantastical imagery, bringing Indigenous identity into dialogue with consumer culture and urban life. Cranio’s murals and paintings have been shown globally- from the streets of Shoreditch to exhibitions in Europe and the US- offering a uniquely Brazilian voice within the international Urban Art movement.

Join us for the opening night of ‘MONEY’ on August 7th, 2025 from 6-9pm. The show runs from August 8th to August 24th. With thanks to our friends at Jubel Beer for providing drinks for the opening night.
