Hackney Society's December social gathering and a tour of Hoxton Hall.
Doors 6pm. tours from 6:30.
A traditional music hall dating from the 1860’s, Hoxton Hall has two tiers of balconies supported by iron columns. Pevsner describes it as "an early example of the type", having a "tall narrow hall with small stage". It later became the home of a temperance society and the Girls Guild for Good Life. Community rooms were added in the early 20th Century.
In the second half of the 20 th Century, and into the 21st, Hoxton Hall developed a range of community education and arts activities and has become an atmospheric venue for professional shows and heritage events.
