Habibi Funk is back with the labelâs biggest event in London to date: a full evening of concerts and DJ sets at EartH on Saturday 5th October⦠Taking over all 3 rooms within the EartH space (from 4pm til 3.30am), guests will be able to experience three events combined.
THE CONCERT: The main event is a full live concert in the EartH theatre featuring live concerts from 3 artistâs from the labelâs roster:
Saif Abu Bakr is a Sudanese singer and saxophonist based in Kuwait. He recorded the legendary âJazz, Jazz, Jazzâ album alongside the Scorpions band in 1980, an iconic document of the vibrant Sudanese jazz scene at the time. He will be performing alongside the London based Scorpios band. They will be performing songs from the album âJazz, Jazz, Jazz" live for the first time in 4 decades.
Multi-instrumentalist Charif Megarbane is the first contemporary artist on Habibi Funk. He plays more than a dozen instruments and has released more than 100 albums on his bandcamp. He calls his music âLebraryâ: a vision of Lebanon and the Mediterranean expressed via the prismatic sonics of library music.
THE CLUB NIGHT: The live performances will give way to a club night in the EartH downstairs hall. Habibi Funk will be playing a mix of Libyan reggae, Tunisian disco, Egyptian fusion and more, supported by Edinburgh based Hiba (check her great set on My Analog Journal) and Josh from now legendary instagram music recommendation channel, Somewhere Soul.
THE YA HABIBI MARKET: Finally through the day, the EartH foyer will welcome the labelsâs friends fromYa Habibi Market, with t-shirts, hats, candles and records all available. Ya Habibi Market will be free from 4pm. During the market Mounira Zerkine of the incredible âAlgerian Vinylâ project will play records from her collection. You will not need a ticket to access it, however, you will need a ticket to access the live show & club night.
