We are excited to announce this year’s Crick-Partner University student symposium will occur on the 8th July 2024.

This student-led symposium is a highlight of the academic year for students from across each of the partner universities and the Crick. You will hear about the fascinating research conducted by students from UCL, Imperial, King’s, and the Crick, presented in the form of a short talk or poster.

In addition to learning about the range of science occurring across the Universities and the Crick, the symposium offers a fantastic opportunity to network with like-minded students and discuss your own science with your peers.

This year we will have focus panels on equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in academia and an exciting keynote lecture from Professor Sonia Antoranz Contera from the University of Oxford. Her research focuses on physics at the interface of biology, nanotechnology, and information processing. There will be plenty of refreshments throughout the day and into the evening to keep you energised, and the symposium will finish off with a social networking event.

There are prizes available for presenters:

£150 prizes for best talk and best poster.

£50 prizes for best talk and poster in each year group.

When you submit an abstract you are automatically entered in a raffle to win a £50 voucher.

Your talk:

You can present a short 15 minute talk (10 minutes talk + 5 minutes for questions) about your research. To be selected, submit a short abstract (250 words max) about your research.

The best talk will win a prize!

Deadline for submission: 10th June, 2024

The selection of speakers will be based on scientific excellence. We will aim to achieve a fair distribution of speakers from different research fields and year of enrolment. The organising committee will review the abstract and ensure that there is a fair selection. We recommend submitting the talk in PowerPoint format. We recommend you to bring with you a USB stick with the talk in case of technical difficulties. In case you are not selected, you will automatically be considered for a poster (However, you are not obliged to present a poster in this case).

Your poster:

You can present your research in a poster format. To be selected submit a short abstract (250 words max) about your research. You also have the option when applying for a poster to also apply to give a one-minute flash talk on your research during the day.

The best 3 posters will win a prize!
