Belle & Sebastian Arab Strap is a Scottish indie rock band known for their emotionally raw lyrics, heavy use of electronics and minimalist approach to instrumentation. The band was formed in 1995 by vocalist Aidan Moffat and guitarist Malcolm Middleton, following their meeting at a party. The band's name is a reference to a Scottish slang term for a sexual device.
Over the years, Arab Strap has released six studio albums, several EPs and a number of singles. Their music is often characterized by bleak and introspective lyrics, with themes such as loneliness, depression, alcoholism and failed relationships.
