Celestial Serenade

Liu Wenwen, China’s first doctorate student specialising in the suona, joins the MPO in its maiden performance featuring the double-reeded classical Chinese instrument. Be mesmerised as Liu and the MPO serenade you with the light and chirpy tune of Guan Xia’s Hundred Birds Worshipping the Phoenix and the richly melodious Kong Zhixuan’s Ode to Kylin. The MPO will also enthral with the highly-acclaimed Tan Dun’s Crouching Tiger Concerto from Ang Lee’s award-winning film of the same title and popular folk music by Li Min-Xiong, Flying Dragon Leaping Tiger. Jebat Arjuna Kee will lead this rare culturally spellbinding MPO concert which will also feature Malaysian cellist Dylan Lee.
