Under the Layer | The Creative Network

Whether you're a battle hardened creative, new to the industry, or just simply interested in conversations based around creativity, Under the layer is designed to give everyone the chance to speak, be heard, and provide insights from guest speakers from across the creative industry

How Does it Work?

A casual, informal meet-up with people from all over the creative industry. Alongside our guest speaker, you'll also have your own creative icebreakers (if you want to use them) so you can dive right into some interesting creative conversations.

Why?

Have you ever been to an event and stood in the corner, or seen someone who has? It can be difficult to throw yourself in at the deep end and start talking to strangers or start talking to the 'big group over there'.

Going to a networking event (especially on your own) can feel a bit awkward, nerve-wracking, and for some of it you feel like you've stood around like a spare part.

Under the Layer is an environment where you are encouraged to be yourself and have a laugh whilst expanding your network through interesting conversations with none of the awkward chit-chat.

The Format of the Evening:

6:30pm - Doors open - drinks, hello's and introductions

7:00pm - Guest Speaker

7:30pm - It's time to network, with your icebreakers at the ready there'll be plenty of people who want to talk, listen, and be heard.

9:30pm - End of the night, obviously you can go home when you want, but this is when we're closing the doors on the event (the bar will still be open though!)

The Boring Stuff

This is a donation ticketed event, so donate as little or as much as you like. We understand times are a little bit tough at the moment and we wouldn't want to prevent anyone from being able to come and get involved. If you're unable to pay the £1 minimum donation then send an email to convo@underthelayer and we'll find a way to get your spot reserved!

If you're wondering about a dress code, there isn't one! we might be professional during work hours, but this is an informal event where you should be yourself, talk about the things you want to talk about, and stick your glad rags on.

As we want everybody to have at least one other person to talk to, please email [email protected] if you aren't able to make it (odd numbers aren't our friend here!) and we wouldn't want people to go without.

Please tell your friends and colleagues about this group too! Whether they're in creative industries, have a creative hobby, or are just interested in having conversations based around creativity and what design, art and creativity mean to them and the wider world.
