Skullsplitting

Experimental Prog Death Metal

FFO: Gorguts, Artificial Brain, Portal, Imperial Triumphant

Thantifaxath are a group draped in obscurity, with an entirely anonymous line-up and a band name originating from the Kabbalistic Tree of Life (meaning Great Ghoul).

Instead of elaborating further, the band prefers to let the music do the talking.

Dubbed avant-garde black metal by some, Thantifaxath surpass such mundane press-tags, instead conjuring forth an expansive, discordant, and mind-altering brew that’s never just black, thrash, death, or doom metal psychedelia, but truly pushes the boundaries of metal as we know it.

Abymal Avantgarde Doom Jazz

FFO: ZU, Ex Eye, Oranssi Pazuzu, Wyatt E.

The follow-up to 2017s “Over Phlegethon” sees the British band Five The Hierophant further explore the dark atmospheres of their psychedelic and drone-like doom jazz metal.
On “Through Aureate Void” they go in an even more psychedelic direction, without losing any of the heaviness or darkness. Also, the use of untraditional instruments like saxophone, music saw, zither and a wide range of percussions, Five The Hierophant creates a totally unique soundscape which you won’t find anywhere else.

Progressive

70s Psychedelic Doom

FFO: Messa, Ursular, Coltaine, Julie Christmas

Djiin is a psychedelic stoner-rock band whose name is inspired by spirits and other beasts of the semitic beliefs and traditions. Influenced by 70’s progressive rock and krautrock bands, doom scene and heavy rock from the glory days of the early Sabbath era, as well as other modern references based on the diversity between western and traditional eastern sonorities, Djiin develops a personal, atypical and captivating universe. Composed for four years by a guitarist, a bassist, a drumer, and a powerful, charismatic and husky-voiced female singer and harpist, the band comes out with its powerful and fuzzy riffs, twisted beats, psychedelic melodies and vocal incantations for a transcendental trip, a real evasion invitation. The use of the electric harp in this “classic“ rock line-up gives unique and surprising sonorities that accentuate the band’s mystic and ritualistic universe.
