In diesem Talk werden Wynema Morris und Vanessa Hamilton, Mitglieder der Omaha Nation aus Nebraska, sowie das restliche Kuratorenteam vorgestellt. Anfang 2024 wurde eine beschädigte Zeremonialpfeife aus der Francis La Flesche Sammlung des Ethnologischen Museums restauratorisch bearbeitet. Der nicht risikofreie Prozess wurde in enger Absprache mit den Umóⁿhoⁿ Partner*innen besprochen und durchgeführt. Dieses kollaborative Projekt entstand aus der langjährigen Kooperation zwischen der Stiftung Humboldt Forum, den Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin/Ethnologischen Museum und dem Nebraska Indian Community College. Der Talk bietet einen vertiefenden Einblick in die Beweggründe der Umóⁿhoⁿ Partner*innen sowie die Perspektive der beteiligten Restaurator*innen.

ℹ️ Event Details
This talk will feature Wynema Morris and Vanessa Hamilton, members of the Omaha Nation from Nebraska, along with the rest of the curatorial team. In early 2024, a damaged ceremonial pipe from the Francis La Flesche collection at the Ethnological Museum underwent restorative work. The restoration process, which was not without risks, was discussed and executed closely with the Umóⁿhoⁿ partners. This collaborative project arose from the long-standing cooperation between the Stiftung Humboldt Forum, the State Museums of Berlin/Ethnological Museum, and the Nebraska Indian Community College. The talk will provide a deeper insight into the motivations of the Umóⁿhoⁿ partners as well as the perspectives of the participating restorers.
