We are happy to announce the second edition of The Feuerle Collection Open-air Chinese Film Nights, in association with CiLENS, taking place on July 5 and 6, in the roof garden of The Feuerle Collection.

This year’s line-up curated by Désiré Feuerle includes juxtapositions of short movies and feature films, such as The Third Solar Term (2021) by J.C. SONG, The Last Year of Darkness (2023) by Ben Mullinkosson, Mr. Sea (2014) by Xue Geng (2023), and Fallen Angels (1995) by Wong Kar Wai.

As the first art institution in Berlin to focus on the contemporary short film creative scene from the Chinese speaking world, The Feuerle Collection includes the cinematographic artworks into its multidisciplinary cultural program offered to the public and invites the audience to enjoy another level of the total artwork curated by Désiré Feuerle. The fruitful cooperation with CiLENS continues for the second edition of the Open-air Chinese Film Nights after the successful first edition in 2023, which took place on the occasion of the last Berlin Art Week 2023, and after the cooperation partnership with the Berlinale and the European Film Market in 2024, as well the Cinema RoundtableBorderless World: Imagination as the Only Destination—A Talk Across Art, Anthropology, and Cinema, at The Feuerle Collection, with film director Wim Wenders, philosopher Dr. Biao Xiang, and actress screen-writer Ke-Xi Wu.

CiLENS e.V. is a Berlin-based non-profit film curation organization that engages audiences in an in-depth exploration of contemporary China and the broader Sinophone world through interdisciplinary events centered around thematic film screenings, fostering a public space for transcultural dialogues and connections. By introducing the less-known yet vibrant Chinese indie cinema to the European audience, CiLENS aspires to stimulate European audiences to explore the contemporary Chinese speaking world in depth, particularly with regard to gender issues, minorities, and perspectives from marginalized and disadvantaged, and ultimately to co-create a community of mutual understanding and connectivity.

Founded in 2016 by Désiré Feuerle and Sara Puig, The Feuerle Collection is an interdisciplinary art institution located in a former telecommunications bunker from WWII, renovated by John Pawson. Its cultural program revolves around Désiré Feuerle’s private collection and vision, combining Imperial Chinese furniture, from the Han to the early Qing dynasty (200 BC–17th C), early Khmer sculptures, from 7th–13th C, and international contemporary art in a total artwork of groundbreaking juxtapositions. The institutional cultural activities encompass temporary art shows, artist talks, film screenings, incense and tea ceremonies, dance performances, concerts, fashion shows, and gong baths.
