Nagasaki Tea Journey: A Tasting Experience by Ikedoki Tea

Join Marjolein from ">span> at C*Space for an immersive tea experience, as she shares her journey through the tea fields of Nagasaki, Japan. With over 8 years of tea expertise and 1.5 years living in Nagasaki, Marjolein, together with tea visionary Yasuharu Matsumoto (‘Matsu’), leads Ikedoki Tea—a project dedicated to promoting Nagasaki's unique teas and reviving the region’s important role in Japanese tea culture.

In this workshop, you'll discover the hidden gems of Nagasaki's tea scene, taste the rich diversity of local teas, and learn fascinating stories about the region’s tea producers. From Tamaryokucha, the specialty of Nagasaki, to Kamairicha, Houjicha, and Wakoucha, you'll have the chance to taste and compare a variety of distinct teas.

Nagasaki has a special place in tea history, as it was the gateway for Japan's first teas and the starting point for the first tea shipment to Europe in 1610. Through this workshop, Marjolein will not only introduce these historic teas but also share Ikedoki Tea's mission to support local farmers and businesses while spreading peace through Japanese tea.

Don't miss this unique opportunity to dive deep into Nagasaki’s tea culture!

About C*SPACE:

">span> is a purpose-driven creative space for co-working, workshops & events, dedicated to ideas and encounters across borders. Tea culture is a central element not only of the organisational culture at C*SPACE but also do teahouse events with various focuses - from tea as such to topical salon discussions or art and culture - regularly pop-up at this place throughout the year. In the summer of 2021, we launched the ‘Pop-Up Teahouse Berlin-project’ with initial support from the Berlin Senate in the framework of its activities to foster Berlin’s open cosmopolitan spirit, and it has been an ongoing program since then. In 2022, we were honoured to act as location partner for a smaller version of the BTF- Berlin Tea Festival.
