Kehlani is an American R&B singer, songwriter, and dancer from Oakland, California. Born on April 24, 1995, as Kehlani Ashley Parrish, she rose to fame after appearing on the popular singing competition show "America's Got Talent" in 2011 as a member of the teen pop group, PopLyfe.
After leaving the group in 2013, Kehlani began focusing on a solo career, releasing her first mixtape, "Cloud 19," in 2014. The project generated buzz and positive reviews, with critics praising her powerful voice and emotive lyrics.
In 2015, she released her second mixtape, "You Should Be Here," which was critically acclaimed and earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album.
